My nickel
The most fun that I ever had in school was playing Danny Ball on the basket ball court and playing with the poison ivy out in the back of the school yard, near Monkey Bottom.
This is a blog about remembering Ocean View Elementary School, 9501 Mason Creek Road in Norfolk, Virginia 23503. The school, which is still a fully functioning elementary school, was a furtile learning ground for young minds full of big ideas, high-jinks, and promises. The school is also currently known as Ocean View Maritime School. Classes now range from grade K to 5th grade. In the 1950's the grade level extended to 7th grade.

First of all you did not possess the proper equipment to play DannyBall (It was tackle Basket Ball...remember.), and secondly you were too busy being a teacher's pet...probably clapping erasers and stuff...to play.
The name of the playground game was "Rover, Red Rover, Time to Run Little Kids Over"...not "Time to Run Rita Over."
That field seems so long and so green. One could get out of breath running little kid sweeps all day <
Glad you stopped by, Job-O!
As you can see, we are such funny people! Of course we do need fresh blood to keep the memories flowing. Feel free to share ---I'll bet you played some weird games on the school playground too.
Just remember: If they ask you to play Danny Ball, just say NO!
Oh ya Red Rover and dodge ball were both big hits.
But I rem exploring the great sand dunes behind the school that held all the mystery's of the world at the time. I also rem being told that you would be killed by some sailor if you went up the dunes to.
Lets not forget OV amusment park was the best there ever was! Was even better then the Sat Mat. at the Rosele!
